Observations: In Deuteronomy 32 Moses spoke the words of the song that God told him to write for the people. God had told him in chapter 31:19 “Now therefore write this song and teach it to the people of Israel. Put it in their mouths that this song may be a witness for me against the people of Israel.” I consider the song a reminder of the good, the bad and the ugly. In chapter 33, before he died, Moses spoke blessings over each of the 12 patriarchal families. Again, you could say it was the good, the bad and the ugly. In chapter 34, we find the death of Moses, and Joshua takes the reigns.
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 2:12: “Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.” Application: Jesus promised us a counselor, one who would teach us all things. That counselor is Holy Spirit. We need to learn to hear his direction. Sometimes it will come directly from him, and sometimes through the Scripture, or through another individual’s counsel. Be attentive to hear what God has just for you! Prayer: Lord, in this crazy, busy world, we sometimes get bogged down in the spirit of the world. Lord, do not let us fall prey to that Spirit. Open our hearts, and our minds to the teachings of the Spirit, I pray. Amen Next Reading: Joshua 1-2; Psalm 37; 1 Corinthians 3 |
