Scripture: Psalm 29:2 “Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.”
Observations: In Numbers 17, in response to rebellion against Moses and Aaron, God made Aaron’s staff bud with almond blossoms and ripe almonds while everyone else’s staff stayed as it was. Numbers 18 explained the duties of the priests and Levites. Sometimes it seems unfair that the Levites were not given any land to call their own, but when you realize they were given most of the first fruits for themselves, you can’t feel sorry for them. Yet, I can’t help but think of pastor’s families, and how the kids are sometimes turned off by the pastor’s responsibilities. I wonder if that happened back then when it truly was a family business.
Application: In today’s Scripture passage we are told to ascribe. Ascribe pretty much means to give someone credit. We must give God credit for all he has created and given to us, but here is says to ascribe the glory due his name. It makes me think of the song passage which says: “His name is wonderful! His Name is Counselor; His Name The Mighty God, Jesus my Lord.’ We are to worship Him in ALL His splendor which IS holiness.
Prayer: Lord God, we praise you! There is none like you. No, not one! Your holiness is greater than we could ever imagine. Your glory is more than we can look upon. Father, God, Isaiah called himself undone when he looking upon Your glory. Moses had to hide in the cleft of a rock. We look forward to the day we can see you face to face. amen
