Scripture: Luke 4:8 And Jesus answered him, “It is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.’”
Observation: Satan knew the Scriptures. He was able to twist them to His need. Many false prophets are out there doing the same thing in our culture. Especially when it comes to the tough stuff like abortion and homosexuality. Jesus knew the Scriptures. He knew the ten commandments. He was able to use these words of wisdom to ward off temptation. Application: We have seen this week in Scripture how the serpent was able to twist the Words God said in order to seduce Eve, and the results of that were long lasting and horrible. We should be readers and doers of the Good Book not just for knowledge, but for application. If we hide the Word in our hearts then it will be readily available to us when we are in need. Holy Spirit will use our faithfulness to the Word to guide us and lead us into an even deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. Prayer: Heavenly Father, maker of heaven and earth, you have given us this great gift of 66 books, inspired by Holy Spirit. Lead us into a love affair with your Word. Your Word is truth and life. We praise you for you are worthy of all our praise! Lead us to worship you tomorrow in Spirit and in Truth. Do not let our worship become a time to enjoy our favorite songs and to show case our talent. Let us humbly come before you in the reverence you deserve. Amen |
